Melinda Young – Kansas Motorcycle Accident Attorney
$30 million. That’s how much money we have obtained for clients previously represented by other attorneys who dropped, lost, or rejected their cases. Our case results explain why other attorneys, former clients and judges regularly refer cases to us. They know we will fight for the compensation people deserve after an accident, no matter how complicated the case.
Born in Hutchinson, Kansas, Melinda Young received a B.S. from Friends University before moving on to earn her law degree from Washburn University School of Law. During law school, Ms. Young was a two-time published author as well as Editor for the Washburn Law Journal. Melinda received the John F. Kuether Award for Outstanding Comment for her publication “Discrimination for the Sake of the Children.” Ms. Young has been recognized by “Super Lawyers” every year from 2012 to 2018. Ms. Young also has an Avvo attorney rating of 9.6 out of 10 and numerous five-star reviews for her work.
Ms. Young started working at Bretz Law Offices, LLC during its inception in 1997, where she originally worked as a paralegal and helped start the Offices. Melinda’s love of the law, and particularly her passion for the cause of helping injured clients, inspired her to pursue a law degree. Following graduation from law school, she gained additional experience practicing law in Iowa before returning to her hometown of Hutchinson and rejoining the firm. Melinda joined the firm as a partner in 2013 and the firm name was changed to Bretz & Young.
In 2015 Bretz & Young established The Bretz & Young Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, to help support their community service work into the future. A portion of the fees from every case which is won by the firm goes toward ensuring that the community is a better and safer place for everyone to live, and toward ensuring that the firm’s community service work continues long into the future.
Ms. Young is licensed in Kansas and Iowa and by the United States District Courts in Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Colorado, Illinois, and Missouri. She is a member of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association and Kansas Women Attorneys Association. She also serves on the board of directors for Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Center and TECH.
